The e-MCR is a 4 way Multi Express Card Reader for Sony EX-1 and EX-3 USB 2.0 compatible express cards like the MxR, e-LCR and similar products. The e-MCR reduces the ingest time of 4 cards by 75% giving you the ability to ingest (download) 4 cards in the same time as 1. Archiving and copying the ingested footage from each card is taken care of with ShotPut Pro from Imagine Products which allows you copying to up to 3 locations Editing, Archive and Backup.

Introducing the e-MCR

When we shoot with Solid State media, we will always need to download data to a computer. This is termed the “ingest”, where the video, captured as data files are copied to the computer through some form of software.

One of the problems facing users of EX series cameras is how to ingest video quickly and reliably.

Up until now there were three main ways of copying data:

Using an Expresscard port in a laptop (fast)

Using e-Films Expresscard USB Host adapter (moderately fast)
Using the camera as a USB device (slower)

All of these methods meant that the operator could only copy one card at a time. At the end of a long and tiring shoot, the user would have to copy each card one at a time and be present to ensure there were no copy errors. Once this was complete then the process of checking to make sure that the data had copied correctly had to be done before clearing the cards for the next days shoot. This exacting task of checking and re-checking had to go on when the user was usually most prone to error through tiredness.

The e-MCR was designed to address this problem for users like ourselves. Using the e-MCR, the user comes back at the end of the shoot, loads the supplied Shotput Pro software, plugs in up to 4 MxR or e-LCR cards, and leaves the copy to take place on it's own.
