It provides the high resolution necessary to get the most out of DSLR cameras of 50 megapixels or more.

FEATURES

The new standard in 135mm telephoto lenses.

135mm telephoto lenses are often classified as the most essential telephoto lens, the first to be added to a collection of lenses. This focal length provides a strong perspective compression effect, while its large diameter with F1.8 brightness provides an impressive bokeh effect. By minimizing axial chromatic aberration, the SIGMA 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art makes this bokeh effect not only impress but also be beautiful, also providing superb contrast and great image quality with each shot. It offers the resolution required for DSLRs of 50 megapixels or more. By incorporating the latest innovations in design and optical glass and rethinking every aspect of the lens, SIGMA has ensured exceptional image quality to the edge of the image, setting the new standard in 135mm telephoto lenses.

The ART line provides a high level of artistic expression.

SIGMA is organizing all its interchangeable objectives in three product lines: Contemporary, Art, and Sports, each with a distinctive concept. Designed focusing on providing sophisticated optical performance and great expressive power, our Art line goals offer a high-level artistic expression. Offering amazing performance that meets the highest standards, they are perfect for landscapes, portraits, still lifes, close-ups and casual snapshots. They are made for the type of photography that unleashes the inner artist. A great ally in all genres of photography, the objectives of the SIGMA Art line stand out both in the studio for formal and outdoor works for impressive architectural shots, starry skies and many other scenes.

Designed to prioritize optical performance without compromise.

Its high resolving power and the minimization of chromatic aberrations help to make this the ideal target for portraits.

Its optical design provides extreme resolution and minimizes chromatic aberrations.

In addition to an optimized energy distribution, this objective has two SLD elements (Super Low Dispersion) and two FLD elements (“F Low Dispersion”). These technologies help minimize chromatic aberrations, which tend to appear in the bokeh area out of focus in portraits, as well as thin objects such as branches. The end result is extreme resolution and clarity throughout the image, even at the widest aperture.

The sixth prime large-diameter lens of the Art series for full-frame sensor cameras.

The Art line was launched in 2012 with the SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art as the first objective. Since then, the line has reached a wide variety of objectives, and the new SIGMA 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art is the sixth fixed focal lens of the line for cameras with full frame sensors. It sets a new standard for fixed targets in the era of megapixels.

Optical image quality for 50 megapixel DSLRs.

To offer the high resolution capable of making the best of DSLRs of 50 megapixels or more, the focusing mechanism features the SIGMA floating system. No matter what the distance from the subject, this lens offers superior performance from the center to the edges of the image. By also minimizing distortion, the lens offers impeccable image quality, without the need for digital adjustment during image processing.

Ideal for portraits that require an extreme bokeh effect.

The 135mm focal length offers a surprising compression effect: even at a distance close to the subject, the telephoto ring allows the photographer to establish a variety of dramatic perspectives. The compression effect really shines in both close-ups and full-length portraits, facilitating composition. On the other hand, the large diameter with F1.8 luminosity makes a full-body shot possible with an impressive background bokeh. In summary, this objective makes available to the photographer a complete variety of composition options.

Exclusive low dispersion glass.

The degree to which the light is refracted by the glass depends on the wavelength of the light. This fact makes the different colors of light focus on slightly different points. The result is chromatic aberration, the color strip that is particularly noticeable in telephoto lenses.

Most of the chromatic aberration can be eliminated by combining a convex element of high refractivity with a concave element of low refraction. However, residual chromatic aberration known as "secondary spectrum" may remain. To minimize this secondary spectrum, which can be a serious problem in conventional objectives, SIGMA objectives offer up to three types of exclusive low dispersion glass that offer superior performance: ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion), SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and FLD ("F" Low Dispersion). In particular, FLD elements offer ultra-low dispersion in combination with high transmittance and abnormal fluorite dispersion characteristics. The meticulous deployment of these exclusive types of low dispersion crystal and the optimization of energy distribution provides SIGMA objectives with superlative image reproduction without diminishing due to residual chromatic aberration.

From the beginning of the design process, SIGMA measured the flashes and the ghost images to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as the backlight. In the prototyping stage, SIGMA used not only simulations, but real photographic experiments to evaluate reflections and stray lights under multiple criteria, identify the causes of these issues in a wide range of situations and take measures to mitigate them. In addition, SIGMA's super multilayer coating helps reduce sparkles and brightness even further and provides sharp, high-contrast images, even in backlit conditions.

With the latest SIGMA technologies.

Newly designed HSM, dust and splash resistant construction, and electromagnetic opening control (for Nikon)

To achieve optimum optical performance and satisfactory ease of use, this objective incorporates the latest SIGMA technologies, including a large hypersonic motor (HSM), dust and splash proof construction and other high quality features.

Large HSM motorcycles and acceleration sensor that provides a precise focus.

The hypersonic motor (HSM) offers ample torque to the focus group for exceptional speed, ensuring exceptionally stable performance even at low speeds. Together with the optimized AF algorithm, this function offers the ability to shoot with a fast autofocus. In addition, the focus limiter makes the AF very accurate at the distance of the subject for even more agile performance.

Fast AF with manual focus control.

The Full-time manual focus function allows the lens to switch to manual focus simply by rotating the focus ring.

Note: The use of full-time manual focus may vary depending on the type of mount.

Nikon electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism included.

The Nikon camera version of this lens includes the electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism capable of receiving the appropriate signals from the camera body. This feature ensures precise diaphragm control and stable automatic exposure (AE) performance during continuous shooting.

Frame with dust and splash resistant construction.

The mount incorporates a rubber seal * to protect the mount from dust ingress and splashing water.

* Except the montur SIGMA.

The circular 9-blade diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the unfocused areas of the image.

High precision metal mount.

The metal mount combines high precision with a robust construction. Its treated surfaces and improved resistance contribute to exceptional durability of the lens.

Lens compatible with Mount Converter MC-11. You can also use the SIGMA USB DOCK to make the relevant settings and customizations.
